WHAT IS DECORATION?

Scraping is one of the types of ornamentation applied to raw ceramic goods shaped by various types of construction. Decoration is done when the parts reach the hardness of the skin after shaping. The desired result is not obtained from the parts that are started to be scraped before they are dried sufficiently. Too much wet dough surfaces are difficult to work with, deformation and damage may occur during the process. In the case of scrapings made on dried doughs which are more than normal, errors such as part throwing, ruptures and fractures that cannot be corrected later occur.

The use of sharp-tipped metal tools, preferably made of steel, is used to make the scraping decors on raw doughs. However, taking into account the formal movement of the desired decor, the use of the most suitable tool for the application is left to the choice and preference of the decor maker.
